An hour out of Brisbane at The Old Church in Boonah, Maddy & Emily finally got to legally say I-do.
The Old Church BnB is situated in a rural setting with charming gardens located just outside the township of Boonah. Built in 1874, the historic Church is now a converted bed and breakfast and wedding venue amongst the beautiful mountains and lakes of the Scenic Rim.
The Old Church offers accommodation for the couple and their bridal party. Some of Maddy & Emily’s friends took advantage of the property’s paddock and set up their tents for the weekend. The owners also have 2 AirBnB rooms at Milford Farm next door and some accommodation rentals in Boonah for your guests.
Maddy & Emily along with their four besties got ready inside the old church together.
Saying their vows in an emotional outdoor garden ceremony with good friend and celebrant Nick Baker there to make it official. During the ceremony, Maddy & Emily set fire to their “registered relationship” certificate, the first relationship paper they had signed years ago when not even civil partnerships were legal, let alone marriage. Yes #lovewins
Following the ceremony and must-have family photos, we wandered the gardens and then into the adjacent paddock, Milford Farm [ also owned by the same owners Harry & Christelle ], for the girls bridal portraits. Where we mingled with horses, llamas, the farm dog and bottle fed 4 week old baby goats.
The afternoon and evening celebrations were held on the verandah, in the outdoor space as well as inside the old church. The Old Church owners also catered the event, with Christelle preparing a feast of delicious meats and vegetable dishes spread out over a farm-style feasting table for guests to help themselves. Following dinner, dessert consisted of a table full of homemade sweets and of course a delicious wedding cake.
While the girls hadn’t planned on doing a first dance as wife and wife, at the last minute one guest encouraged them to get on the dance floor. I am so glad they did because I love the dancing photos of the two of them absolutely having a blast as they finally can say they are legally married.
Here is a little sneak peek from there day.
