I had heard of Jaymie long before I met her. Before I was a professional photographer, I worked with Jaymie’s sister Leah. We stayed in touch after we both left that company and I then had the privilege of photographing Leah’s wedding at Albert River Winery a couple of years ago, where I finally met Jaymie when she was Leah’s bridesmaid. At the time, Jaymie & Ethan had been dating a few months so I also got to meet Ethan at the wedding.
Jaymie & Ethan met on Instagram – I reckon that might make them one of the first Instagram couples to get married!!!
Early into their relationship, Jaymie had a big decision to make when Ethan was transferred to a remote country town in outback Queensland to continue his police training. To go with him and take a chance on love? Well Jaymie up and moved to that remote country town chasing love and to be by Ethan’s side. I can only imagine being in a small town that they bonded quickly and why we were gathered to celebrate when they exchanged vows on Friday 3 February 2017.
And they have a cute proposal story to tell. Jaymie tells it best “Ethan had a broken leg, and broken collarbone from a motorbike accident. He hobbled around the corner and into the living room after I had finished work one day, fell down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I helped him back up shortly after saying yes.“.

Ethan wore the buttonhole flower (silk naturally) that his dad wore at his own wedding. It’s these sentimental moments that make for the best pictures. I recommend including as many personal touches in your wedding as possible!

A love note from the groom. Awww
Jaymie wore a stunning Pronovias wedding gown ‘Orobia’ from White Lily Couture along with a raw edge veil and a Talin headpiece. Bride’s shoes are from Novo. The bridesmaids dresses were from Review.
Jaymie & Ethan chose Hillstone as their wedding venue as Jaymie had her formal there, and Ethan had his high school graduation dinner also there. They knew it was a beautiful location and due to them planning the wedding from far away, they chose many of their vendors that they already knew and trusted.
When asking Jaymie what was her best memory from the wedding day she answered “I don’t think I have a best memory. Every time I think back at the wedding I smile because I really did enjoy the entire day and everything that happened. I loved just walking down the aisle and seeing Ethan there thinking YAY he showed up!!“
It was a family affair when it came to the decorating and styling. Jaymie and her mum tackled a few DIY projects, from the handmade Save The Dates and Wedding Invitations, to the framed quotes for the tables and seating chart, and place cards. Jaymie’s dad made the seating chart frame and the chalkboard heart for the ceremony. And they recycled the Pick A Seat Not A Side frame from her sister Leah’s wedding.
Jaymie & Ethan chose some meaningful lyrics and words to frame for display on the reception tables.
“My heart stops when you look at me, just one touch, now baby I believe this is real, so take a chance and don’t ever look back”.
– Teenage Dream, Katy Perry
“say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime, lead me, save me from my solitude, say you want me with you, here beside you”.
– All I Ask of You, Phantom Of The Opera
“… but most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you”.
– Baby & Johnny, Dirty Dancing
Jaymie & Ethan celebrated their marriage by investing in their future with the purchase a house the following Friday. Congratulations!
Jaymie & Ethan’s advice for other brides & grooms planning their wedding :
What advice would you give other bride or groom’s to-be ? “Take a deep breath and just enjoy the entire process. Don’t stress about things. Choose people as your bridesmaids and groomsmen who you know will have your back no matter what. Honestly just enjoy it all and concentrate on the fact that your marrying your love, and best friend. It doesn’t matter rain, hail, shine, or if the limo is late (like he was for ours due to crazy traffic) or doesn’t show or there is a spelling mistake on your invites (again there was one in ours). As long as the bride/groom shows, and the celebrant is there.. you’ll be married.”
Anything else you would like to share about your wedding experience, standout moments, planning advice, … “It’s easy for things to get bigger than you originally wanted. Make sure you stick to your guns and have an idea of what you want before you start planning. Don’t let people dictate how many guests you ‘should’ have or what they think is best. It’s YOUR day. You do it how you want it.”
