It’s most likely you landed here because you are newly engaged, congratulations Lovers! … and you might be wondering why you should have an engagement session. Here are 5 reasons to have an engagement session.
1. Number One Is A Big One – Practice Being In Front Of The Camera Before The Wedding Day.
99% of my couples have never had professional photos taken before and usually say something along the lines of “we are so awkward in front of the camera” or “we have no nice photos of the two of us together“. This is a normal reaction and a good reason to get in some practice before your big day. I find an engagement session helps my couple feel more comfortable in front of the camera as they will know what to expect. The wedding day is one of the most significant events a couple will experience and quite a sizeable investment – you don’t want to risk messing up the only record you are left with, your photos! Once you’ve experienced being photographed, you’ll be surprised at how relaxed and easy it actually is. One less thing to worry about on the wedding day.
2. Work With Your Photographer.
The engagement session is a great opportunity to actually see how I work with you when taking photos. We get to know each other better which results in you feeling more comfortable with me when Im giving you directions. We find engagement sessions are especially beneficial for the more introverted personalities and less confident. Honestly, it really feels like we are just hanging out, having a few laughs and I happen to take a few photos.
3. See How Your Hair & Makeup Looks In Photos.
Make use of your hair & makeup trial by scheduling the trial for the same day as your engagement session and you can see how it looks in your pictures. Besides trialing your wedding day look, you will look great in your engagement photos.
4. Pretty Pictures For So Many Reasons.
Especially for those couples that put their hand up for not having any nice photos of the two of you together, you walk away with some beautiful professional photos. Use the beautiful photos for Save The Date Cards, Wedding Invitations, on your Wedding Website, a Guest Book for the wedding day or other wedding day decorations, Thank You Cards or just simply some pictures to display at home.
5. Choose A Different Location To Your Wedding Venue.
On the wedding day we might be restricted by time limitations or distance to a particular location outside of the venue. An engagement session allows us to shoot in another location. Maybe its the style of environment – for example your planning a wedding in the country, but you also want photos on the coast, but the closest beach is a 20 minute drive there and another 20 minutes back, that’s 40 minutes sitting in a car and eating into your photoshoot time. Having an engagement session means you get the best of both. The other advantages of an engagement session means we aren’t restricted by time limits, don’t have guests waiting for us to return, you also have photos where you aren’t wearing your wedding clothes plus a record of this happy time. Or maybe you would like to include your furry family members because they can’t be at the wedding.
